Anthology Works LLC is an Oregon, USA, based business, founded on Valentine's Day 2018 and is the brainchild of our Founder, Dave Meisburger. Here's his story and how it relates to how Anthology Works LLC came into being:

* * * * *

My desire to write courses through my blood as my maternal grandmother, Margaret Symons Taber, was a highly accomplished artist, and author of three poetry books. During my early years, while my father was serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, she instilled the artistry of the written word by reading aloud to me the lyrical books of Doctor Seuss and intricately woven tales penned by the Brothers Grimm.

My reading her first poetry book was soon followed by the fairytale works of Hans Christian Anderson, and the medieval adventures of T. H. White’s 1938 publishing of the Sword in the Stone, an iconic masterpiece featuring Merlyn (more commonly spelled in modern times as Merlin), the backward-aging wizard, and his charge, young Wart, the boy predestined to become King Arthur. I followed the course of that tale further with Sir Thomas Malory’s Morte d’Arthur, always mentally casting myself in the dual roles of both Arthur and the invincible Lancelot. Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey were also favorites of mine and I dreamed often of brandishing a sword at Ulysses’ side. Greek and Roman mythology were mystical escapes for my often-bored intellectual mind.

A class reading assignment exposed me to the science fantasy writer, Madeline d’Engle, author of the children’s book, A Wrinkle in Time, and my mind departed Earth, soaring off to seek new worlds. The works of Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Robert Heinlein, Ray Bradbury, and more then caught my roving eye, followed by the complete Perry Mason series of books authored by Erle Stanley Gardner. Present day, I enjoy collecting and reading the works of Clive Cussler and Dick Francis, upon who's death his son, Felix Francis, has continued writing similarly-themed novels in his honor.

With my grandmother providing me inspiration, I soon began to pen poetry and short works of my own. But when she offered to forward them to her publisher on my behalf, I demurred. To me, my works were highly personal, so much so that I didn’t want to share them with anyone other than my grandmother and the person I wrote them for. The more she persisted that they were worthy of sharing, the more I resisted her urgings.

Sadly, she passed on over thirty years ago. Even upon her death bed she steadfastly avowed her voiced confidence in my writings, continuing to encourage me to publish them and make them public, which I’ve now done and dedicated to her memory in a book aptly titled, Reflections – Poems & Missives Celebrating Love & Life.

As a result of her lifelong inspiration, I’ve created Anthology Works LLC and this website to seek out and assist both published and unpublished writers to afford them the opportunity to be published in anthology book formatted publications and breathe life into the fond memory of my grandmother’s never-ending positive support and unwavering approbation for aspiring writers by collecting and distributing their original written works unto others to provide encouragement and enlightenment, to invoke amusement and frivolity, or even to, perhaps, move one to shed a tear or two.

To date, all of our projects are being initially funded by Anthology Works LLC, which means that the contributing writers are able to be included and their work become published at zero cost to them.

It's my hope that one or more of our book anthologies will catch your eye and perhaps even inspire you to submit an original Work of your own to be included in one of our future anthology projects.

My best wishes to you and all those you love and care about...
